Create a budget and stick to it. A financial planner can help.
Sitting down and creating a weekly, monthly, and yearly budget is good sound advice which I would add that they might want to look at downgrading or eliminating some items.
No one ever said you have to go out to eat or party every night or even every weekend, have the "newest and greatest" technical gadget, have the trendiest clothing or shoes, etc. BUT it has been said that people need to learn to live at or below their means.
