I’ve been trying to switch to another service line for the past year (particularly deals). I had no luck. Just recently obtained Manager at a mid size firm (also have 5 years of overall experience in assurance/tax). Will this help me stand out against other applicants? I feel like most advisory/deals roles recruit only Big4.

most deal groups aren't hiring right now period.

Yeup I’m aware. Hoping that turns around in the next year or two but I know that’s a big hope.

T b h There are tons of us out in the world. The market is flooded with people who have the same experience that you're trying to obtain by switching to another department. If you were good at deals you would have a job in deals.

Hello Fam Law attys!

I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

TY!

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕
