I've been working as a data analyst for 4 years now, and I'm not in love with what I do. After doing some soul-searching, I think I'd really enjoy doing strategy. What's the best way to break into a strategy role?

If you're in the US, MBA from a top school

If you're from elsewhere, apply for MBB/tier 2 and try your luck.

What do you think strategy is? What do you think you'll be doing day to day? Why do you think you will enjoy it more?

Second this.

Whats wrong with Data?

I thought everyone wanted to get into data?

Couple of choices.
1. In JPMC join the strategy group. There are multiple groups. Each LOB has its own, there is one for each functional area, e.g. HR, Risk, etc. Technology (Lori’s) also has a strategy group. You can join but likely will be towards the bottom of the ladder.
2. Leave JPMC and join a consultancy firm like BCG, Deloitte, etc. That’s what they do. Learn all you can and then come back to JPMC.

Trigger: rare illness post birth

Just sharing that I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia 3 days after giving birth despite not having risk factors or preeclampsia in my pregnancy. Sharing as I had absolutely no idea about this illness.

Main things to do are check your BP everyday at least the first ten days after you give birth, and go to hospital if it's very high (over 160/110). If you get severe headache or stomach ache then also be vigilant.

Happy to answer any questions!
