I've heard it said that "your network = your net worth" I understand this kind of advice in theory, but I'm not sure I get how it's supposed to be applied in practice. I get that who you surround yourself with is important, but it's not like I can just go out there, find some rich people and become buddies with them. Any thoughts on this? Has your network played a role in your financial success?

It means that relationships and your network of connections has value. Every interaction with a colleague, barista, neighbor or friend of a friend is a chance to foster a friendship or relationship that could prove to be helpful. It might be the neighbor that takes your mail in when you are on vacation or it could be the coworker you sat next to at your first job who becomes the CEO that hires you on their team. We all can offer value to others in our network and in exchange we get value back be it social or emotional connection or career and financial.

I posted about it on my Instagram HerMillennialMoney if you want to learn my tips and tricks with the care.

Hi all, how did you solve the retirement puzzle?

As an expat, I went on the Degiro for investing at the moment, since the account can be used from all countries.

Was considering to invest also in an insurance, but is apparently not possible if you live abroad and then maybe go back to the home country.

Have any tips?

I like having liquid assets since I support currently myself & girlfriend and any unexpected expenses my mother & younger brother have. I feel like the inability to access funds when my family needs it has been the reason I haven’t invested outside of 401k and have this cash reserve

Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.
