I've recently started a new job that I actually despise. The work and the people are not to my liking. I'm contemplating going back to my previous job from which I departed amicably (I left to pursue litigation). It's only been a month since I joined here. Should I wait it out or go back to my old job for my own happiness? Hmm.

I’ve went back and did not regret it, it actually worked out better for me. You can’t work somewhere and be miserable. You need to be happy and comfortable.

While I personally haven’t done it, I hear about people going back to their old job all the time! If it’s mutually beneficial and agreeable, why not be happy?

like

I've never done that, but I have been on a team where someone did that. For the benefit of those you currently work with, I say go back to your old job if you're not happy or don't want to do the work. The longer you stay, the more things you get assigned to, so that's more things you have to wrap up and pass on to others. We had a person who started in July and left 6 months later. It was clear from almost the beginning that this person did not want to do the work but she tried to stick it out, so when she finally left, there was so much to fix, find, uncover, and just generally reassign to others that it would have been easier if she had left at the 60-90 mark when she wasn't assigned to as much work. I'm not saying this describes you, but I am saying that it does become a burden to others when you're new, you start getting assigned to things, and then abruptly leave, especially when people have invested time in training. If you're pretty certain you want to just go back to your old job, I say cut your ties sooner rather than later - I think it will be much appreciated from all sides (yourself, your current employer, and your old employer).

If they'll take you, go back. I regret leaving my old place and I heard someone in that office say they're not a revolving door, so I didn't try to go back. I had it so good, I didn't even know it.

like

Do it! Sooner is better than later. If you know, you know!

Go back if in your gut you don’t like it Go

Go back to your old job, if you can. Only live once, if they didn't like you, they would let you go. Happiness means a lot especially when working with attorneys.

Hi everyone,

I have got the ey hr mail stating i should provide him with aadhar card, information sheet and latest resume for a audit and assurance contract for 6 months as iam a semi qualified CA.

Here my question is should i take this opportunity. Cause since this is only for 6 months. After that, what i can do, where should I try to get the job?

In mid size firms, people won't pay as much as big 4 pays.

Should I take it or am I making a mistake by taking this.

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented.
