Get shit done
Document everything. Make sure you know and understand the delivery specs. Lean on your vendor to provide you with detailed schedules if you’re unfamiliar with the pre-production prep or anything else. Don’t assume. Good luck!!✨🙌🏻
Humph that is annoying about the rig. Do they have that in writing about the liability? Good about the engineer tho. What is the rig being used for if I may ask?
Regarding money, don’t know if your client has a contingency fee that could cover overages if shifting funds isn’t possible. Some have like 10% and the account person should know. Overages happen to the best of us
Sounds like you’re being set up for success wherever you’re working, @OP... /s
Thanks- what about charges covered in the bid and charges added on. The production company had the full specs of what had to be built- and a rig for a demo- then later they have new charges to get the rig done. Are additional charges the norm?
Hmm....feel like they should’ve included charges to get the rig done in the OG bid. Seems like an oversight on their end. Can the prod co shuffle some funds around to cover it? Or do they anticipate any savings down the line that could cover this overage? Additional charges sometimes happen though.
I’ll try to shift some money- they als say they can’t be responsible for the rig- in other words if it fails there is no liability on their part- pisses me off that they act this way
We will get a structural engineer to help design it - but annoying they pass the buck
The rig is adhesive between two metal plates as a hitch - towing a house
Over 25 tons- I can’t disclose the full idea yet. It is working out OK - a lot of engineers involved.
A contingency is a great idea when there are a lot of unknowns- we had it in one of our bids- +30% It sets expectations. Some projects just can’t be accurately bid without a lot of time investigating and basically doing the job.
Thanks for the advice!
