Joined Deloitte to get more robust supply chain experience, however finding their supply chain practice is very run of the mill implementation work

What skills are most in demand right now in industry?

I feel like there are a ton of supply-chain related data science/data analyst roles and more work than people to fill these roles.

I would say SQL, Python/R, Tableau/PowerBI and of course Excel are relevant tools that would serve you well in various supply chain roles. You could also choose to learn and become proficient at solving a specific supply chain problem like forecasting, warehouse network optimization, route optimization, etc.

That’s helpful, thank you

IMO, those related to digital transformation, automation, and analytics. I recently spoke to a colleague in the supply chain industry who shared that companies are really looking for professionals with expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data. It can be a challenge to find the right opportunities to hone these skills, but by joining Deloitte you can get the experience you need to make yourself more marketable.

Could you elaborate on run of the mill? What was the expectation going in?

M1.. Isn't SCNO just that? Doing assessments for what software are out there. Being an echo chamber for the software the client wants to use and then work with vendor or SI to implement the software.

I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I've spent a good amount of time working strategy, product development and change management/PMO projects . Data Scientist by training with a small amount of DD and financial modeling experience - so hopefully have the analytics chops to learn new skills as needed.

Working through getting some concrete M&A/ Valuations experience to make me a better candidate for a PE/VC firm. One question.

It's sad to see people with 2-3 years of experience getting paid more than you when u have double the experience. 😄 Best part is they are still complaining of getting less. Well I guess you should never settle. New gen is giving a hard time to the experienced folks. I think this is the high time to upgrade your skills. Come out of your comfort zone and start looking for new opportunities. I think this is the best time to switch if u haven't already in quite some time.

Hello Everyone,

I have 2 outstanding offers from EY and KPMG in the Finance Transformation group. Does anyone have any insight on the WLB right now, with the labor shortage and pipeline being crazy?

Also, does anyone have any insight to how difficult the transition will be from being a manager at a middle market firm into a manager at the B4? If someone else has done the transition how long did it take to get your feet under you?

Sure I just started a new job as a project coordinator in January .
It my first job in clinical trials technology position prior to this I was in dentistry for 32 years and it’s taking me a lot to learn all the ins and outs of data analysis and some of the tech talk.
I’m very grateful to have the position because it took me 2 years to find a job! I just wish I could perform better and know my job a little more intimately.
