Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

1. They've to pay for your 'home' flight
2. You've 60 days to find a new job without any repercussions on your immigration status
3. Keep your head high; plenty of us have gone through the immigration nonsense to finally be resilient to the challenges
@OP - Similar thing happened to me at Deloitte last year. No notice and they just terminated me when I came back from vacation. Totally unexpected and I had not even finished year end review etc. Think business was just dipping in our group.
Anyways I was on a H1B, was looking earlier but ramped by networking very aggressively. Got 3 job offers. The companies usually apply consular visa for which you might get RFE as well. You will have to go out and comeback in (I did it in Mexico).
There is also no said rule about the 60 days. It is a myth cooked up on websites and forums. You can technically and legally stay till date of expiration of your visa, but lawyers usually don't recommend it. This is a very grey area. EY has to give you access to an attorney and a flight ticket back home. Speak to lawyer and strategize best steps. Have all your questions consolidated!
Don't worry too much and trust things will workout. Sometimes these guys are assholes in they way they deal with the employment of people on visas , but we just got to deal with it I guess.
Good luck and please ping if you have any questions!
PWC 3 thanks ...feel a bit better now
Ok. Just read the rest of the thread OP. Good luck and stay strong.
Op take a deep breath. Talk to a friend. Get a referral for a good attorney. Consult them first thing on Monday, and only make any major decisions after speaking with them and with your family.
D5 no chance....that is my one true love.
Deloitte loves hiring EY people and paying them more. Find a Deloitte recruiter in DC area you will have an interview lined up by Wednesday. LinkedIn
Watch!
OP..do not panic..you still have 60 days to find a new job..I have confirmed this with lawyer when this happened to me..be positive!!! Best luck..
OP if it's L1.. 60 day might not be valid.. I was assuming you are in H1
On L1 you will have to leave immediately within 1-2 days after termination, doesn't matter if you were fired or you left on your will. On H1 if you leave the firm at your will the same rule applies but if you are fired then you get 60 days of grace period to find another job plus you get severance money.
OP you'll land on your feet ❤️
EY1 - And no, it's not exactly the same if "I went to your country".
OP, what city? If interested in Dallas I'd be happy to check with some friends about openings.
EY has a ton of people in the US who are on student visas. Not H1B, not L1, but student visas. And they would encourage them to renew those in order to stay employed. That recently stopped with the current administration crackdown. I found this downright unethical, if not illegal.
KPMG4 - since you referenced H1Bs, what's fake news is the massive abuse of the program. H1B status is only supposed to be awarded to foreigners possessing "highly specialized knowledge" not readily available in the US workforce. In practice however, H1Bs are handed out like party favors. There's no shortage of consultants on these shores, and if we're being real with ourselves, there's nothing highly specialized about strategy, implementation, change management, etc. The cure for cancer isn't hiding in one of those Tumi bags.
B1: Couldn't agree more, I totally agree with the abuse of H1Bs which is why am all up for reform.
Nothing yet SC3...I have an appointment tomorrow. I'll post an update then. I have a 20 minute consult, any advice on questions to ask beside the obvious.
PWC4 thanks for the info
Please explain big picture AND details. They minna contradict each other OP. Don't get it.
D4... haha...Audi s4...interested?
