Selected in a Big4 firm and one MNC shortlisting is going on, hopefully will get selected within 7-8days. The MNC will be offering good package, but Big4 is just giving 20% hike in my salary and waiting for my decision to say yes or no,to proceed further with offer letter. Query :1. If I say yes to the Big4, and when they issue the offer letter, and then I reject, can they blacklist me. 2. Also if accept the offer and say no, in that case can they blacklist me from their firm. I would consider if there was 40% decrease....to work 40 hours per week. I assume this is a joke
I can’t believe this is even a debate in your mind. If you’re a year from making Director, the 40% pay bump is huge. The 40 hours a week is huge. 40 hours per week is its own flexibility - you might not be free to come and go as much as B4, but you have hundreds hours per year of your life back. Also, the economy ain’t gonna be cooking like this forever. Pay raises ain’t gonna be great a year or two out. Take the better money and hours while they are available.
Yes take it! Partners are basically people who couldn’t find a better offer
I don’t know anything about your situation, but yes. Take it
If it’s a job you are interested at a reputable company that likely won’t be folding in the next 5-10 years, and you think the 40 hours a week is for real, then yes
But it all depends on your goals.
Depends on your current situation and goals. Do you currently have flexibility and if so, are you willing to lose it? For example, I’m a Tax director and have 2 kids. While I do work the normal amount of OT, I have way more flexibility than in industry. I know this bc I’ve been on loan staff assignments as a manager and director and it’s brutal being tied to one chair for 40 hours/week. I’d rather continue hopping between client meetings, the office, working from home and occasionally doing stuff with my kids during business hours than take the 40/week job, but that’s just me
I say do it. Worst case you can always come back to a big 4. I see people do it all the time. Best way to continue to get that pay bump and promo.
At a minimum share this offer with a partner you trust, you might be surprised by their response and advice. If you don’t have a partner you trust...get out lol
I don't understand why people think industry isn't flexible...at least out on the West Coast industry can be pretty flexible. Will you be able to wfh anytime you want? No. But will you be able to wfh randomly? At the right company, yes.
What matters most to you?
Yes.

@ey2 everyone is someone that couldn’t get a better offer
