Layoffs are ongoing right now, heard both in HC and S&O. Right now they are targeting people on the bench for a while and people up for promotion that have always gotten 3's. After year end there will most likely be another round depending on final #s at year end. Best advice I can give is stay staffed and stay needed. This is a consulting wide thing though not just Deloitte. Many other firms had layoff rounds already.
Deloitte had a big year last year and got overaggresivecwith their targets. Although the year is good it hasn't met targets. And when your assets are people and only people, cost cutting starts with people. But this business goes in cycles, trimming the fat is a normal part of consulting cycles and D4 is correct in the up or out model.
@accenture2 people at Deloitte tend to consider people being counseled out / not promoted to manager as a "layoff" which is incorrect. There's just been so many M&A deals that last few years that they promoted everyone . Deloitte is starting to go back to a hit more up and out .
S&O, SCMO, no personal knowledge of layoffs, even in E&R, just a hiring freeze... Deloitte globally loses something on the order of 30k+ staff/year, and generally doesn't need to do traditional layoffs because naturally attrition is so high. This feels like panicky behavior because a few people were let go after performance reviews. May be wrong though.
Following - need more good consultants - NYC area for FSI
Confirmed- Deloitte layoffs happening. Not OC. Person on my team got news today. Would anticipate more to come this week.
They let you send emails
@D24 / @D39 - as someone in the March round at Uncle D, I can confirm they don't immediately take your laptop or shut off your email. Your laptop has to be in by COB and your OWA / DTE access is until EOD
For anyone more senior, this was already discussed as part of year end. There was a small round of layoffs prior to year end to adjust staffing levels - mainly due to lower attrition than anticipated. For year end we held a hard line on distributions, which meant some people who would otherwise have been 3s became 4s. Most of those 4s are being OC'd - which is normal in an up or out model. This is not some big new round of layoffs.
Shouldn't that change though. This seems like a joke. Shouldn't you go back and tell them to re-assess the needs. I am sure savings in signing bonuses and training time costs more than improving the current talent.
@D5. You got to be kidding me. Wouldn't this affect work product quality? Wouldn't this become obvious and no MBA hire would want Deloitte as their first choice.
I'm just riding the wave until September, then a layoff might be welcome while I test the market anyways.
Shit...just got the infamous "connect with Partner X" invite. For reference, 2nd year S&O SC (MBA hire)...was told I was on track for promotion at midyear and have had all 2s and 3s (mostly 2s). Peace out FB...
There are instances where they don't even tell your counselor that you're getting the axe
I can confirm d17. They are not notifying counsellors. And HR didn't reply to inquires regarding my counselee.
Glad I'm cyber risk
I thought the layoffs were a quick burst a month or two ago - is anyone 100% sure they are still occurring?
This is Deloitte Consulting only, right? Haven't heard anything for Advisory.
Are they firing 1st year BAs, 2nd year BAs?
@D52 - HC is tiny compared to other service areas, so I'm not surprised this is the spin put on things at a team dinner
D56 - can you confirm what service line or areas?
