I feel like the purpose of the question is to understand whether your interests align with the new company and the role, so I would tailor my answer to focus on the future.
Realistically, so many companies are laying off that it’s not going to reflect poorly if you say it, but if there’s something about the new company that makes you actually interested and excited in the company / role I would 100% just focus on this. Remember you’re competing with other folks, some who have also been laid off, so a potential way to stand out is with enthusiasm for the role.
You don’t have to disclose that you were let go. A lot of the time companies just need to verify dates of employment.
I would not mention it for the potential impacts it might have on your offer. You’d earn about 20% less in comp if unemployed vs employed

There’s always a way 😈
Tell them you were let go. Blame it on COVID and firm performance.
Yeah, I agree with this approach. Accenture is laying off more folks than any of the major firms so no one is gonna call you a liar. The best approach is to go into the potential new employer with honesty.
Tell the truth I’d you don’t feel comfortable with spinning facts
