31 YO Male, 10 YOE, 140 base.
2 years ago I was making 115 (with 8 YOE). Gender pay gap is real.
There are females the same level as me making more. It’s based on the negotiation process for experienced hires. Entry level programs have standardized salaries. If you’re unhappy with your comp then test the market.
Suggesting it has zero to do with gender, race, and other attributes with potential for bias is pretty naive

"The controlled gender pay gap, which controls for job title, years of experience, education, industry, location and other compensable factors, measures equal pay for equal work. The controlled pay gap has also decreased since 2015, but only by $0.01. Women in the controlled group make $0.98 for every $1.00 a man makes, meaning that women are still making less than men even when doing the exact same job."

It's immaterial because figures that small make for confounding variables. And no, I don't want to take a paycut. But I'd be happy for women's salaries be go up 2%. This isn't about punishing one side or another, it's about lifting all of us up

I can’t tell if you were serious or just being sarcastic. Irrespective, anyone telling you pay gap does not exist is likely higher-paid gender (hint - it ain’t yours)

Pro tip - get access to FB comp survey data and slice by gender and YOE to find how much discrepancy exists at your firm
4 YOE dude here at 110 base. Looking for an exit at 185 OTE. If you have stayed at the same company for more than 2 years you’re likely underpaid.
Based on my experience the pay gap in large for equal job / YOE is due to us not negotiating as aggressively or downselling ourselves. But I am interested in seeing actual stats (released by individual companies, not generic stats) to see if there’s any material diff.
there’s probably room to improve but efforts should be more focused around educating people to negotiate / instilling confidence in people.
That being said, I’ve seen cases where there definitely is a pay discrimination at smaller companies with very.. ‘old-school’ culture. Like the firm wasn’t willing to pay the amount they are paying to male counterparts who are doing the same job. Just never seen this happen at a major firm
I’m a female consultant making 127k base with 2.5 years of experience. I have traditionally made more than the majority of my male counterparts, but I also negotiate very heavily.
