Does JPMorgan entertain counter offers ?
I have an offer of 18.5 lpa including bonus.
At the time of HR discussion, I was under the impression that this will be 18.5 fixed + bonus
I already have 19.5 fixed CTC offer from Emids and Indegene is ready to pay 23 lpa including joining Bonus.
I am keen to join JP morgan but I want to negotiate the offered CTC.
During HR discussion, HR said they'll not entertain any counter offers later on

From Chicago myself and, let me tell you, if I would have known about Sacramento, I wouldn't have moved to Denver. People are friendly.
California living without California price. Cheaper than Denver and better located. A 400k house in Denver is 300k house in Sacramento.
Food is fantastic which it is not in Denver. Not quite Chicago level, but, let's be honest, nowhere is. They do have fresh seafood and are surrounded by farms growing absolutely everything.
Weather is great. Summers are a bit warm, but a cake walk compared to Chicago's humidity. It doesn't snow and there's low humidity. The environment is very mixed, like if Chicago had palm trees and fruit trees along with what's already there.
Did I mention it was centrally located? 1.5 hours from SF, and there's a train if you don't want to drive. 1 hour to Napa. 2 hours to Tahoe/Reno and Monterey. 3 hours to Yosemite, not to mention a bunch more national parks. Tons of day trip options. Airport is easy to use and the public transportation isn't terrible and is getting better. Bike paths everywhere. Very walkable.
It's not only the Capitol but an old town. Lots of history but new stuff as well. Tons of outdoor stuff to do. It also has a good high education system.
Job wise, it's got a bunch of tech. Pretty much all Bay Area companies have a presence there.
Sacramento is so boring through! If you have a family and you are looking to spend all your time with them, then sure!
From Santa Rosa to San Diego the average min house price is a million dollars. For an 80+ year old house. in the middle of gang territory. Enjoy.
Moved from Chicago (Gold Coast) to OC - a lot of the OC coastal cities (Newport, Huntington, Laguna, San Clemente) all have walkable cores depending on how dense you’re looking for
My vote is for San Mateo or Redwood City
Rising Star
Hahah... have you looked at the average rent in Redwood City?
Protip review crime maps and download Citizen app to track what’s going down in the areas you’re interested in. Especially if you do San Francisco. Data is your friend.
Redwood City, San Jose. Looks like you are targeting NorCal?
California is huge, are you willing to live anywhere in the whole state?
Exactly - there are lots of charming smaller towns along the coast and in the mountains that are a massively different vibe. But proximity to airports could be an issue for consultants.
There are a lot of towns that are bikeable and walkable if you live near the downtown area. Berkeley, Albany immediately come to mind in the East Bay.
In LA, it's very similar if you live near the center of the town. Culver City, Venice, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach are all very walkable.
Santa Cruz is very walkable, as is Carmel
In Los Angeles and LA County:
Koreatown, Pasadena, West Hollywood, Studio City are all great options.
I am moving as well sometime in next 3-4 months. My top picks are - San Mateo and Foster city
I like San Mateo. I did not know that about Foster City because it has a very nice suburban feel (Costco, Target almost walkable from many communities). SM /FC/ Redwood City is nice because it is between SF and SJ and East Bay is just a bridge away. But to answer OP’s question I would suggest Sunnyvale, Mountain View as they are cheaper or Sacramento.
Folsom / El Dorado Hills (Sacramento suburbs that are top-notch)
Where do you work by chance?
I would also recommend west of SF near Golden Gate Park and Ocean beach. A 4bd/2.5 modern high-tech home is available and this home has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. Let me know if you would be interested!
It is available for rent at $6800 per month, starting June 1st. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2048-14th-Ave-San-Francisco-CA-94116/15115452_zpid/
Don’t do it.
My experience too
