Interviewing with some companies - despite great feedback at interviews, they are all trying to slot me in at an independent contributor level or an level lower than my current. Feeling frustrated - male colleagues are getting lateral positions or a level above current. Need I mention I am also up for promotion at current firm. Has anyone experienced this? Is this bias or just a symptom of the Covid economy?
Hey all! Interviewing and need some insights about accepting a non-tech product marketing job. I currently work in SaaS but was offered a higher paying job in educational publishing. It’s a non-tech product marketing role. I want to take the job but I don’t know if moving out of tech would be a bad move for a product marketer? Would it be harder to pivot back to tech?
I’ve been going on interviews for product / owner and scrum master roles and the feedback I get “we feel you don’t have as much experience working with a team. For example, UX and QA.” I’m confused bc in my projects I had to do those roles (though they were smaller scale) How do I convince companies I’m capable?
We are starting SWE group interview practice from October 25th through 28th November. We did a similar workshop style prep in September and a lot of people joined it. Few things we do as a group 1. Solve problems of most of the topics and patterns 2. You have choice of easy or medium or medium hard problems. 3. Cover topics around system design 4. Discuss problems twice a week on zoom If you are interested signup below https://bit.ly/3ArBxZw
Help! I have a T2 offer & need to hurry for the final decision. I also have a pending offer from AWS and I’m expecting an offer @ Netflix. Both Netflix and AWS are aware that I have the offer. AWS is rushing the final process (they need to put me in touch with a team manager in a different division before the offer). Netflix is silent for a week but i was told on last call that I passed the onsite interview and they wanted me on a higher/mgr level with a different team too. What would you do?
Got offers out of undergrad in tech consulting from PwC and Deloitte. Accenture interview next week. Thoughts on which one I should go for?
I had an interview with a recruiter for a financial company for a GC role. She explained how they were having trouble finding candidates and that I seemed perfect. However, I feel that I'm totally not qualified for the position and that once it goes to the CLO I'll be shot down. Has this happened to anyone before where the recruiter thinks you're perfect but the hiring manager will not?
Rejected from my MBB interview after months of prep and nailing the cases. Been extremely depressed since and I wonder if I’ve blown my chance.
W. T. F? Absolute nothing in response to over 100 apps I’ve sent in over the course of a year + half. Actually I lie. I did get 2-3 interviews over the course of that time, but then, crickets! I’m not that bad guys trust me! I’m absolutely dumbfounded and lost at this point. Try to stay away from LinkedIn where everyone and their moms seem to be killing it. To boot I’m on an O1 visa (extraordinary talent) but that extraordinary part makes the whole thing more ironic and funnier haha. Hire me!
To everyone interviewing, to hopefully calm some nerves: The process is really long. Not hearing back from the recruiter for a few days, or even weeks, is completely normal. There can be multiple weeks between rounds and then multiple weeks before you get feedback. Don’t think too much into it. There is no indication of positive or negative by no response. On average it takes 3+ months, and usually 2+ application attempts, to get hired. Good luck! 🍀
Does anyone have any experience with BCG Platinion Risk Consultant case study interviews? This is my first time doing a case study interview and I'm currently trying to prepare, but most case studies I have found online are more in management consulting. Thanks!
What can I expect to walk into during an interview for Accenture? Do they give case studies?
Is it lame if I leave right when I get my first promotion from A to SA? (Im talking 1 month into being an SA) Would it look bad to future employers & do I still retain the clout of making SA at big 4?
Is hiring season coming to an end? Feel like I’m seeing less and less new opportunities/seeing the same ones than from earlier this month 😩 i want to leave by eoy and this is super disheartening
Currently work at AWS in Business Intelligence and am looking to transfer into Product Management. Looking at MBB eventually. In my experience, most people from MBB have FAANG as their exit op. Why?
Any home remedies for infants having nasal congestion. Have 5 month old who is congested over 2 weeks and doctors are not prescribing anything. I can hear baby constantly inhaling air and nasal sounds. Tried steam bath, nasal aspirator.
If i want to do marketing, should I commit (a kind of early decision program BCG has with Kellogg) to the Kellogg 1Y MBA or take a chance at Wharton or Harvard? I would be sponsored in either case.
More and more colleagues are claiming that bringing a job offer from the competition is the fastest way to get a promotion from mgr to sr mgr and/to MD, do you agree?
How many people’s jobs would you absorb before requesting your role be re-evaluated/leveled/comp adjusted? I am already doing one person’s job when we decided not to backfill them when they left and just got nominated to take over someone else’s responsibilities while they are out on a multi-month leave. I could handle this if I was an individual contributor but I also have a significant team I’m managing and the additional responsibilities are coming at their expense which is unfair to them.
Guidance coming out next week on mid-year compensation review. Wonder how many people this will push over the edge who have been holding out the last couple months in hopes of a raise.
what's the firm policy for expensing health related purchases? I'm soon going to buy a bench, couple of free weights and a Fitbit. can this be expensed to the firm? if yes, how? Thanks for the help!
Hi , can someone suggests which is better in terms of work culture and work life balance and stability. Each of these companies are giving the same offer just difference of 50k max. Siemens Synecheon Virtusa
Would you rather stay in a niche that you’ve been doing well in, but you happen to find not too interesting, or try new areas and risk not doing as well? Ive been in pharma analytics for the last 4 years, receive good client feedback, good raises / promotion and have learned a lot. But I’m not sure if I want to continue in pharma long term.
Ever heard “omg how are you single, you are fit, handsome and successful”. Gets on my nerves every time. I would like to be in a relationship but dating as a gay man is wack. All about sex, and the times I’ve caught feelings for a guy it’s not been “exciting” for him anymore as the “chase” is over. Apparently being available is a turnoff. And the comment “come on, you can get whom ever you want”..........
Question: I withdrew from my 401K during COVID in Nov 2020 because I really needed the money. The penalty was waived bc of Covid. Does anyone know if I can put that money back into my account?
Slalom consultants, do you have to live in one of their main locations, or can you WFH in any city you choose? I live in a smaller town and want to stay.
This question is not gender related, yet I don’t want to be ‘mansplained’ to, hence asking here ;) it’s related to taxable income at Deloitte...
Do you guys think the if Biden and Harris are elected, they would make the healthcare system better? By better I mean: less complex and cheaper for the consumer. With premiums and deductibles constantly rising, I feel like healthcare is getting out of reach, even for households with ~100K in income
Might seem like a silly question but do any of your firms, or do you know of any firms, that have fairly progressive cultures? WFH has made me realize how incredibly stifled I felt in the office. I want to be able to show some tattoos, have a purple streak in my hair, wear artistic clothing etc and still be taken seriously. Does this kind of utopia exist or am I being extremely naive? I'm originally an artist. I hate how much I've realized that I've stifled my personality for this industry.
