My girlfriend just received a $90k scholarship for her 3rd and 4th years of medical school. With there being an entire year before 4th year tuition is due, she currently has the $45k sitting in a checking account. I through out the idea of an hysa as it would make ~$2k in that time and would be low risk. Any other recommendations for low risk possibilities?

Money market mutual funds. Vanguard’s is currently at 5.29%.

All good, M1.

Money market mutual funds arent FDIC insured, but are still very stable and reliable as far as a place to park money.

Mine is invested in a Vanguard money market mutual fund, I honestly don’t see them going kaputz any time soon.

Treasury notes or even CDs if you want no risk. Wealthfront HYSA is at 5% now, it's through partner banks and is FDIC insured.

My realtor looked at a unit for me, and shared the video w me. I’m interested. The unit is on MLS. Then he posted on his IG story seeking buyer. I’m kinda annoyed because now I may have competitions since he is my realtor OR should I be ok for him to do that since it’s equal playing field on MLS?

Incoming MBA, I have my tuition paid for and rent covered (I will be an RA). So the only thing I need to pay for is food and entertainment. Do you think 20k is enough to last me through the 2 years? I will make a little money interning in the summer, so that would be a safety valve if I blow through the 20k.

Or… should I take a small loan?

Hi Fishes/Seniors,
This will be the first time I will be in tax slab.
I have few queries can anyone please help me regarding this.
In ELSS mutual the total we can save save tax is 1.5lakh. Do we need to invest yearly 1.5 lakh yearly to save tax? I am planning to have a Sip of 5000 monthly for 3 years. So total money invested in 3 years will be around 60000 * 3 = 180000.
Will that be sufficient to save tax or Do I need to have a sip of 12000 per month to save tax.

Good evening all,
With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.
