If you are in the DC area, PM me. I have a good psychiatrist who sees a lot of lawyers and other professionals with ADHD. He’s helped me a ton, and the first person who really seemed to get that the right meds are essential to the success of my practice (as well as life in general).
A4 - of course!
What you want is a psychiatrist who has experience with ADHD. Generally, psychiatrists are much better equipped to handle medications related to any psychiatric medicines. Many mental health professionals primarily do telehealth visits so you don’t necessarily have to look for a telehealth company. You could try going to your insurance website to search for an in-network psychiatrist then check out their website to see specialization. Or just google “adhd psychiatrist” with your city and you’re bound to find something.
You mentioned you’re in the NY area- I’m sure there are specialist practices devoted to ADHD there. For example, here in ATL there is an ADHD Center at Emory, and there used to be a private practice that exclusively treated ADHD, although I can’t find it now. I would imagine there are even more options in NYC.
I’ve also heard good things about ADHD coaches. Haven’t tried one myself, but I know there are some in my area that focus on lawyers and other high-level professionals.
Finding the right treatment plan is a frustrating process, so don’t get discouraged if you have to try a few different providers before finding the right one. Good luck!
ETA- there is actually a Hallowell center in NY. Can’t imagine a better option; I’m jealous! https://drhallowell.com/services/contact-us-and-directions/

Their job is to make sure you’re not abusing your medication. They’re a GP.
I used 3rd party resources to help me manage my ADHD. Most of things I learned were behavioral changes which, when coupled with medication, have me living my best life.
Ended up meeting with a remote psychiatry NP. He felt what I’m currently doing might be a good fit - two low doses of immediate release Adderall 2x per day, with a third on days I’m working late or having issues getting “in.” But, he added a low dose extended release of atomoxetine to see if that helps me cover more bases and keep things “smoother” through day so I don’t crash. Started this morning, going to try it for three weeks and check in, we shall see.
Yeah I was on adderall for a few years and just felt like I completely lost myself so I just went cold turkey and I've been much happier since honestly. I have found more help through meditation and therapy and exercise/nutrition than I ever did with those scary drugs. Adderall really stole a couple years of my life.

OP, this will seem silly, but following ADHD pages on social media was a game changer.
It’s akin to legal research: you start with Google and find a law firm blog that gives you an overview and “the terms of art” that then inform your subsequent research.
