My turn! Got laid off earlier in the year so took some major risks with cruise ship/cinema stocks. No Tesla here. Bought in at dips and sold it everytime I had a 20% gain. Now holding 70% in cinema stock and about to do a final pull out in the next couple of weeks. Very risky, I know, but def prepared to lose the money. But made more than what Accenture would have paid me!!!

Match process costs around USD10k; this year he is applying again after borrowing funds frm different sources bt he is under tremendous pressure to get match. Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

How are stock/ETF/mutual fund sales taxed? If the security overall is up by 10%, but I’ve bought in fractions over time (vs all units in one purchase), will the capital gains be taxed on the current net profit? If not, how is it calculated?
