My turn! Got laid off earlier in the year so took some major risks with cruise ship/cinema stocks. No Tesla here. Bought in at dips and sold it everytime I had a 20% gain. Now holding 70% in cinema stock and about to do a final pull out in the next couple of weeks. Very risky, I know, but def prepared to lose the money. But made more than what Accenture would have paid me!!!

Cool! This is actually the exact strategy the guys from the big short used to get their garage band hedge fund up and running - buy long term call options when negative news happens. I did this with Starbucks last year and am +900%

like

Did you consider solvency risks? That’s the major risk for the plays I’ve taken.

Jheeze you have guts! How much money did you have lying around considering you got laid off?

Awesome! What do you see as the best remaining opportunities for big gains?

Tbh I’m still a novice, but last week I was thinking Cinemas (especially since they had a major dip after the WB and HBO announcement), pharmacy shops (i.e. Rite Aid, Walgreens), potentially cruise ships still.

Awesome!! 💪🏼 Looks like Wells trade - you like it?

Eh it’s decent. I use it just cause my checking band savings are with Wells Fargo too.

cinema stocks are trash... good luck with that

Congrats, PWC1!!!

Made more than your Accenture salary before or after the short term capital gains tax you’ll pay this year?

Yeah of course that’s why I asked the question. We’re you laid off in June or earlier

Sweet!

Are you locking in short-term gains before end of calendar year? If you haven’t yet and thinking of divesting over next few weeks may make sense to hold a bit longer to try to push the tax bill till 2022..

r/wallstreetbets appreciates your investment strategy.

MP1 thinks you are going to get burned with this strategy and is trying group with people that are self-described autists when it comes to investing.

Either that or he thinks those guys can learn something from your simple but effective approach.

What did you do when cinema stocks dipped further than your entry point? How long did you stay in a losing position?

Tbh I was prepared for it to dip. All these different stocks dipped 10-20% but eventually went up again due to certain news such as vaccine or stimulus news.

Sorry to hear about the layoff. Congratulations on the returns!!

This is awesome! I’ve been in and out of airlines and cruiselines since June and up about $20K! I’m glad you’re still making your money work for you! Keep it up

Do any real estate lawyers out there know of/can direct me to a ROFO agreement to purchase commercial property? I’m working on one now (but using a ROFO to purchase equity interests as a basis) and would like to see what other people are doing. Finding a good one has been hard, as this kind of thing isn’t always required to be filed with the sec and every search I’ve done basically pulls up garbage. Also, are there any provisions you’d consider absolutely crucial from the owner’s side?

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
