Not always. My cousin was a brand new college graduate and RN at a hospital in NYC last year. Her starting salary at the hospital was $104,000 a year for a 36 hour week. Overtime (not mandatory) was paid at time and a half(1.5). I read a story of a 26 year old travel RN who made $260,000 a year in the heights of Covid. No wonder there has been a significant drop in students studying accounting over the years. A recent study of the top 10 professions by colleges students revealed that accounting was not in the top 10. No surprises here.
So the options are maybe afford to live in an apartment by yourself or own a yacht

Unless I’m mistaken, it looks like the actual survey is from last year, they just put out a new post on it calling it “recent”.

Inflation and home prices increase have eaten significantly into any "slight" increase in wages. A friend of mine bought a house in 2018 for $390,000. It was recently appraised for $550,000. He salary has only increased by $8,000 in those same years. She said that she doesn't know how she would afford houses in today's prices.
