Whatever you do, don't shake the baby!
Just messing, but in all seriousness, every baby is different, sometimes mine takes forever to burp, i sometimes even go up and down the stairs with baby to help. BioGaia is pretty good too on Amazon
Every kid is different. One of my kids burped with a back massage starting lower to upper back while holding him up. The other one needed to sit on my lap and get the light taps. The second one took me a while. Keep trying - sometimes with age (even a few weeks) they get better at allowing the burps to happen to them
Rising Star
Are they in distress by not burping? Some of my kids burped when you looked at them, others rarely did. Everyone is different so don't stress out if they don't burp right away.
I always just layed them on my chest with their head on my shoulder, then did a combination of back pats, circular back rubs and gently bobbing myself up and down while turning side to side.
My son didn’t always noticeably burp and wasn’t in distress. I just patted him after eating to break up any air bubbles and let things settle and he was fine.
Bourbon. Always bourbon. Little bit in the gums. Gets the heartburn going and burps will come a flooding. As for the baby, I have no clue.
I think the whole “ensure a kid burp after every feed” isn’t true. What we did is, we tried burping our little guy. If it didn’t work and he wasn’t in distress then I would just skip it
Some just don’t. First kid burped and spit every time, second kid nothing.
Check your nipple flow is the right rate for your kid
Don't, then. My 4 month old spits up like crazy whether you burp him or not and half the time, when we burp him I feel like it's a spit up that could've been prevented. So our pediatrician said just to not burp him unless he seems uncomfortable or particularly gassy.
Agree with everyone! Ours rarely burped in the first 4-5 months, and was never in distress. Started burping only after starting solids, that too on her own! 😅
No distress visible but he does spit up a bit which I attribute to not burping??
I've tried all the techniques above except up and down the stairs which I'm going to try now
I had to pat the back in a circular pattern, but still was only successful part of the time. If we really needed the burp but couldn't get it by patting, we'd use Little Remedies gas drops. Mixed it in with bottle feedings.
Our little guy resisted it too. We found that putting his tummy on our shoulder facing backwards while lightly bouncing his butt and patting his back did the trick.
