McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Definitely money path. Consulting has good rate on per ounce of your soul 😂

Yea, it’s very good money. Ona very conservative path, a few years out of school, and you’ll be over $100k, up around $160k at about 5-7 years out of undergrad, and after a few more years, clearing $200k. That’s good money by nearly any standard. Anyone who disagrees is completely and totally out of touch with reality.

Good point. That is for tech consulting, and I think business consulting is similar, but maybe a little less.

It can be, but nothing in life is guaranteed.
It’s good money but I wouldn’t chase money. I would chase fulfillment and passion - neither of which is common in consulting
Yes, but think “no life”
Hold my beer lol
It can be if you want to climb the ladder but it’s a grind and it’s competitive. Even if you’re not on the partner path it’s a good field with solid pay.
It puts you on a good trajectory. Especially if you hop a few times and get promos. Long term it's not for everyone.
If on Partner track = yes. You can make as much as a CEO if you make it. If not, you will be a slave for peanuts. lol
Yes making $200k rn and it feels like peanuts 😂 we all get greedy as you move up.
