Soft layoffs at ProServe today ?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Nice. I'm sure those laid off employees will be able to use this uplifting post to feed their families!

To be fair, LinkedIn provided them with 10 weeks pay, full year of cobra health insurance, career counseling services, and let them keep company tech. So while it does suck still, that’s a much better package than most people get. Even microsoft doesn’t offer that much for layoffs 🤔
No it’s expensive bc employer is t paying their subsidy any more. Nothing to do w health c
These are about as useless as those LinkedIn endorsements - yet more participation trophies.

So you're saying I should make a LinkedIn post bragging about my participation trophies?

Because consultants in general have an inferiority complex and have built a career on thinking they’re smarter than they are.
You’ll get over it

Because our value is our output. Clients>employees.
LinkedIn cares more about each employee. When industry hires, they want each of their staff around for the long haul. When consulting hires, we expect half of the people to be gone in 2 years. This burn and churn consulting mentality means we don't emotionally invest in our colleagues in the same way other companies might.

Consultants are trained to cut through the BS and create the BS to sell. Aka Consultants are realist, industry professionals are idealists and/ignorant of the way the world operates.
Wasn’t it only 6%? That’s hardly a lay-off, seems more like standard headcount maintenance

D1- that’s not really true in LinkedIn’s case. They reduced roles specifically in recruiting and sales for its talent products. It’s clearly tied more to overall business performance and not individual performance given the lack of recruiting activities right now. Typically at Microsoft for example, with these layoffs, they will try to get high performers to recruit within the company and keep internal systems access for a period of time to allow for this.
Humanity and empathy doesn’t exist in consulting lol

Layoffs, there were no layoffs
This was in response to the fact that consulting companies, especially the Deloitte partnership never wants to acknowledge layoffs
You get a mysterious bad review and then you get let go
Layoffs?! Don't talk about - layoffs?! Are you kidding me? Layoffs?!

All consulting firms are like “This is a regular performance cut, nothing to see here” 🤡
https://news.linkedin.com/2020/july/a-message ... don’t think consulting firms make these decisions with “consistency and fairness, diversity, and (wait for it) compassion.”
Still think we can learn a thing or two...
