If you're not assigned then you don't need to ask anyone. Just go study. Technically you're on call so if anyone reaches out for help, you kinda have to
Lay low and study. Don't ask for work
Absofackinglutely.
Umm really EY1? I guess it depends how many different clients you're on year round. If you have a ton and have more options than maybe. I only have two public jobs and a small client. I'm pretty busy year round but if one of my clients drop me for a week, it's typically to get some unofficial break time. Sure I can talk with my other big client but how much help are you really for a week?
It's scheduling's job to find assignments for you. That's why you're supposed to email them when you're unassigned to let them know you're available.
Study, it's very important for your career
Depends on firm. Do what you're supposed to do based on firm policy. In my office we expect you to at least let one person know you're available, but seniors and managers generally let you be because you're fairly new and the exam is important
I'd be pretty pissed off if you didn't at least inquire if the team needed help. Especially in the summer, good chance there won't be anything. You don't have to let everyone know but at least the main seniors/ managers you work with
If your team needed you they would have booked your time. D1 doesn't know wtf they're talking about. My suggestion is laying low, avoid any heavily trafficked areas if working in the office and avoid letting people know your una. Good luck studying.
Meant E1*.
Not true. Things come up all the time during the week that you didn't plan for. It's nice to know whose available when you are looking for help. My office doesn't have an availability listing to see who is free. I'm not saying don't study but you can't just sneak around the office and hope no one finds out you aren't scheduled on a client. That's a bad reputation to get
It's only one week. Don't say anything and go hard on the studying, God knows it's hard working 40+ hours a week. Personally, if it's ever more than that, reach out. Shit can hurt your utilization.
Our scheduler sends out an email with availability so staff can't hide, but in the summer they mostly don't get picked up. So study but remember that if someone asks you if you're busy do not say yes and then still study.
