My wife and I just had our second child, and we have also been dealing with her cervical cancer diagnosis. It has been a stressful year, to say the least. I want to do something nice for her, but money is tight right now because of the cancer treatment costs, and her being on unpaid leave because of the cancer treatments. Anyone deal with taking paternity leave during a 2-year clerkship? How long did you take and how’d you bring it up to your judge?

I’m going to be a dad! But I have some questions. When should I tell my manager/teams? I’m up for senior promotion this year, will this impact that promotion? For those of you that work in public what tips do you have for managing your work and family responsibilities? For context, my wife, once she’s done with maternity leave, will only work 25-30 hours a week. I know working in public and having a new born is probably going to be a lot to juggle, but I have to make it work.
