Med school and nursing are definitely not low stress. Doctors work way more than B4 or banking sometimes. You can’t take days off, lives literally depend on you. If you go into dermatology sure it’s low stress, easy money. But most medical fields are tough.
Stay in PA for a couple years, than jump to industry for that low stress, decent pay. All good things you need to work for, that’s life, otherwise everyone would do it
News flash. You have to work hard to make it in this world. Highly compensated because you either handle stressful situations well as a leader or have some rare technical skill. Sorry to break it to you. Strap in for the next 40 years.
Thank you so much! This is perfect
Doesn't sound like you like PA KPMG 4
Honestly public accounting can be a really good fuckin career if you make it to partner. But no one denied there aren’t other options out there that can make more money. We all just said pretty much none of those options are low stress, minimal work.
Let’s be honest, PA is one big “I’m better than you” contest so the respect angle isn’t the best to take. You’re treated garbage for quite a few years
Why are you looking for advice on an easier job on an accounting forum? If any of us knew how to work less and get paid more, we would be doing it. Just ask your parents for more allowance
PwC 5, I get what you mean to, but that’s the entire business world. Someone with six months of experience screaming, I want no stress and more pay, isn’t going to be take seriously by anyone.
And PwC 6 I also get what you’re saying, you’re not the one I’m referring to when I’m saying people are bitter. But the reality is, how are we to know if we like something without doing it? 6 months is more than enough tome to realize you don’t enjoy the work. My biggest issue is that the summer internship was a cushy 8 week internship during off season. Then you start full time a year later just in time for busy season and they pull the rug out from under you. I’m over a year and a half in now, but I figured out about 2 months in that this is not what I want to do long term. But you’re right, there’s value in sticking around, that’s why I’m still here. For now...
Lol @ all these bitter, defensive losers
Pwc5 yeah I totally get it. If you hate the work then yeah definitely leave. And I agree, my constant complaint to hr and recruiting is : stop sugar coating everything, be realistic with recruits. They should understand before they come in that it’s not easy. It can be a very good career if you know what to expect coming in. And that’s the case with most fields, we should be honest
Private accounting...the hours for private are much better, less travel, more stability, etc. Find a Fortune 500 company with a good work culture, and you'll get what you're looking for.
I have CPA. Interest in making more money, I’m going to get my MBA this fall.
Finance. Easier, less hours, and better pay.
Misinformed? Did you not talk to any professionals before accepting your job?
Why couldn’t they handle it ^
Serious business.. it's all about technical sales. Learn a product/field very thoroughly and get into sales.
Do management or strategy consulting at the Big 3 - it’s long hours, but you get paid more. Just learn how to do a case interview.
This is why I’m leaving PA for software engineering
Why would you want to work in excess of 50 hours a week?
Why be the guy doing the coding.... When you can be the guy telling the coder what to code........ Come to the light side if Cybersecurity
@EY5 still it's misleading when it's basically equivalent to $75k elsewhere in the country. Retiring on $1MM is also a bold move.
