People panicking now all saying "why didn't we listen to the scientists who have been warning us for weeks if we don't take action hundreds of thousands to millions could die!!
Those same scientists, who have been shouting, pleading, begging, yelling at us for the past few decades if we don't take immediate action humanity as a whole will have an existential threat / BILLIONS will die.
The big difference with Corona vs Climate change, is with Corona -- scientists are recommending actions for Individuals. That's tactile, real, and implementable for each of us, and individual incentive to do so. We would get sick, or those we care about would. So we're accountable & take ownership of our actions.
Climate Change, is still throwing around questionable "societal" actions where no one person holds ownership, or is held accountable for it. They still beg government to Hold People Accountable because there's no Natural accountability. They need to prove direct effect on us, or frankly most ppl dgaf stay away from me and my $
Yeah I mean the climate is important.... but optics and making sure the client sees you every day in that little conference room makes the world go round. Don’t forget about your PPD’s. Do you want to be the one to tell his wife and kids they aren’t getting a new yacht this year? Could you live with that? Think carefully and remember... optics.
Climate change is so far only affecting poor people - coronavirus is all incomes. That's why people care. And SM1, there are certainly individual actions that scientists have recommended - the #1 being stop animal product consumption. But people DGAF ...yet. By the time they do, it'll be too late.
