SC OP, it seems counterintuitive, but please try to relax. The more panicked you seem, the harder it will be to really breakthrough in your screenings and interviews. Like EY1 noted, the market is still fairly hot.
You'll find something soon, and I hope it'll fit you much better than your previous role. Hang in there!
D1, and everyone else, thanks for the kind words. I picked myself back up and got back on the grind the day after I heard. I was in the job for 3 weeks (non consulting, Fortune 100 company) and got notice about being laid off. Adds salt to the wound knowing I barely finished on-boarding before this happened. But you all are right, I’m going to be pounding the pavement hard to start networking and applying. It’ll be tough but I’m a man of faith and I know this happened for the better. I’ll keep you all up to date. Any advice is really appreciated.
Accenture Strategy is hiring a bunch. Check the careers page if you want to come back to consulting. Good luck!
Sorry to hear, OP!
Assuming it wasn't for something crazy, remember these things happen. Take the weekend, feel sorry for yourself, and then hit the bricks Monday with a passion. Ask yourself what happened at the old position and why it didn't work. Think of this as an opportunity to find something that's a better fit for you. If it was just part of churn with your firm, think of it as an opportunity to try something new. Remember to take this time to stay productive and improve yourself too. Was there a certification you'd wanted to study for but never got around to it? Now's the time.
Please know that it isn't the end of the world and that you've got people who care about you. Don't forget to reach out to them if you're feeling like you can't breathe.
Looking forward to your update saying how things landed, whenever that happens.
Employment market hasn’t gotten colder yet. This is peak hiring time for many companies. Sources: just got a job offer and have gotten several interviews
There was a thread recently with a PwC person who was laid off. He had an offer with a big raise (50%?) in one week.
Enjoy a week off. Then start looking. You'll be fine.
