If it's a school night, the event should be over by 6. (Dinner, bath, and bedtime by 8 - elementary schoolers)
Are we making Bisquick biscuits? We’ll be done in 15 min. so 6:30 works.

If it’s during the week, I would participate if it was 5-6pm. Earlier is sports/homework, later is dinner/bed. (5 & 8 year olds). Plus then the biscuits can be ready for dinner :)

7pm you may get older kids. Younger ones (and their parents) will be less likely. Not the end of the world.
They’re from scratch! It’s an hourlong event with a chef who’s quite well regarded / has some interesting stories. Most people are saying they want the event to start at 7p, but I suspect that’s skewed towards non-parents.
That said, I’m wondering if parents would even want to come even if it were earlier (6 or 6:30). Unfortunately we cannot do 4-5:30p as there’s a lot of internal resistance against that time on a regular day (lots of EOD meetings), and this would be an optional event too. Thoughts?
I'm a parent of 7 & 10 year olds and 7 would be perfect for our family. Earlier you run into dinner and sports.

6 is a tough time for kids. From 5-7 they are either hungry or assholes. I still think 6 is the best time, though. Anyone who wants to join with their kids at least has a chance to plan and try to attend.
Let them know they can freeze biscuits and bake them later. Making and cutting may be as far as a parent with a young one can get.
