Unfortunately it has to be in the same tax year BUT what you could do is buy $700 worth of stuff you will need that is listed as covered. For instance thermometers, humidifiers, baby sunscreen, maxi pads for after you give birth, etc. Then for the baby shower ask for gift cards or money to pay the hospital instead of registering for the stuff you bought. But yes I totally get your point and that would be awesome if we could.

Maybe buy a hospital gift card.
So you’re just thinking about having a kid? If that’s the case, I can see why the hospital would not make up fictitiouscharges for you to pay.
If your wife’s pregnant, than she’s racking up debt that the doc might be able to bill now instead of at birth.
