It might impact your ability to get roles at the same company in the near future, but other than that, I wouldn't worry about being blacklisted. This type of thing happens all the time. Just be professional about it. Thank them for the opportunity, but let them know that after further consideration, you've decided to rescind your acceptance and go in a different direction. At the end of the day, you have to put yourself first. Business is business.
No. They aren’t having that hard of a time, it’s a massive Canadian bank. You’ll just be a number there. I promise, they don’t care. Remember, the hiring managers job is to also sell you the position. Of course they are going to tell you that, they’ve got a job to do. Literally the moment you send the email that’ll be the end of it.
I don't think they will blacklist you. I had the same incident when I was hiring and if you're applying within the same department team, they'll probably remember you and not consider you again, but if you apply within another area/team, then I don't think the other team would know what you did. Backing out of an offer is a not reason to blacklist someone. But just be professional about it when backing out.
Hey, I was wondering if you can accept my DM so we can chat?
Which team was it for? Maybe I can give some insights
Sure
Reneging is made to seem more no-go than it actually is so the firms in general can benefit from trapping you
I wouldn't necessarily think they would blacklist you. But I think it would hurt your career a little one way or another. However, I would do the same if I was in your position.
Can you elaborate why you said it would hurt my career? How would it hurt?
I don't think you will be blacklisted but you know for sure that once you reneged on an offer, there is a great possibility that you will never be considered ever again for the same position.
I’m fine because the reason I’m leaving this role is because I don’t see my career in this role. So I would never want this role. But I don’t want to burn bridges with RBC as an organization because there are other roles I would like to work in.
I don't really think so. The best you can do is stay for a couple of months and then quit.
