Looks like MRM found the loophole.
It’s a total con! Most all companies already had a strategy to work around pay transparency laws before they even passed legally (NY).
There’s a lot of truth hidden in that gigantic range. First, that many feel like $125-175k is as much as they should be paying for that role, otherwise there would have been zero confidence in sharing in public the lowball end of that range. And probably there are a ton of people who would be happy with that salary, maybe especially coming from smaller companies or cities etc. Second, they want to attract applicants with the idea that the company does pay big money to some people so that they feel like there is runway to grow their career and compensation. Even if the people who make $300k++ are few and far between and almost never hired via a LinkedIn job post application. Third, it tells you what the company uses to determine your salary worth baseline in the “will depend on” so you can market yourself better.
