Seeing all these tech/STEM layoffs and I keep wondering… where do people actually go after? Do most jump to another tech role, pivot to contract work, take a service job for a bit, or just lay low and reset? It feels like there’s a whole middle chapter we never hear about. Curious what you’ve seen or experienced yourself.

What is the best way to gracefully exit a small firm where the senior partner is very high-profile, knows everyone, and is likely to be personally offended by my departure? This partner has also begun their term in a very public-facing and time-consuming position - 1 year term. I can’t do it anymore but I know it’s bad timing and I don’t want to burn this bridge. Help!
