Does he go to daycare? The outside influences and modeling are always a risk, even if there's one single kid who is misbehaving. It's like a portal to discovering a world where children can do impulsive things.
Is his diet normal? Sugar and protein intake?
Sleep quality and duration the same?
Change in attention/focus on siblings etc?
Change in routine? New teacher at preschool etc
Behaviors he might be picking up or taking cue from - from you and your spouse, TV/online, other kids and influences.
His sleep has been normal, though a few of these nights his behavior has led to late nights which have led to a cycle of bad sleep (naps, so then goes to bed late, rinse/repeat). There really hasn’t been any change in routine nor in attention to our younger son who is 2.5.
We have strict limits on screen time (15-20 mins per day) and monitor what he watches, but perhaps there is some influence at the daycare precipitating this (we asked if he’s behaving differently there, but they said they’ve seen no change)
TV influences are the most subversive, so keep that in mind. A parent may think all kids shows are acceptable but there are some that seem deliberately harmful to kids. E.g. Watch out for a cartoon called Oddbods, a nonverbal show for toddlers. It literally contains scenes of murdering pets, and worse person to person behavior. Every scene shows some kind of malice. It's unreal what is available to children if the parents aren't screening every single product.
