Seeking Guidance: Transitioning from Accounts Payable to Finance

I am currently working in Accounts Payable but looking to transition into the finance sector. I am pursuing the FMVA® certification to develop my financial analysis skills.
Given the limited growth opportunities and job security in AP, I want to make a successful move into finance. I would appreciate any advice on how to effectively find finance roles and position myself for this transition.

Please help me understand personal financial upside from an IPO - - I’m interviewing for a director level role at a company pursuing an ipo within the next year and tons of momentum. What would you expect a director to make from an IPO having been hired a year before?

How difficult is it to move between Big 4 M&A Deals Practices (i.e. PwC->EY, KPMG->Deloitte etc.) and when is the best time—financially and otherwise—to make a move post MBA?

Moving on from Hotels (Hospitality)?

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, but it is very to commit to actually accept a new job offer since I really do love my job. My only complaint is, the pay vs workload is very small. I’m a manager now and my property offered me a director position… but the salary is still low! To make six figures, it’ll take another 5-6 years to grind it out.

Should I move on and go to a different industry? Opinions are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
