The policy around waiting to get the vaccine after having covid was more relevant when there was limited vaccine supply. Your parents can and should get the vaccine as soon as they are able to.

They had it already? Studies suggest they are fine and actually safer than if they get the vax. They should still get it but you’re fine to hangout with friends. That’s per the data. You can look at it yourself.
Thank you! I hadn't heard the claim so I'm curious to read up on it.
Not an expert but would definitely be cautious if they are health compromised. Being vaccinated doesn’t completely prevent the transmission, and the delta variant has been considered more deadly
Plenty of coworkers on my team caught it multiple times over a few months and parents caught it from them too. If your friends are considerate they won’t mind if you bailed until your parents get vaccinated
Drop anyone who does mind, and tries to convince you otherwise.

Your parents have natural immunity? What are you worried about

Agreed, they should get vaccine today
I saw some research/guidance just recently that said people who have already gotten Covid should still get the vaccine
And I’m confused too because the vaccine gives antibodies - your body naturally makes them after you catch covid and recover. Why are we still pushing the vaccine to these people. Is there such thing as double the antibodies double the protection?
In short, yes. Immunity from natural infection or vaccine fades over time. Additionally, while the vaccine provides a known level of immunity, past infection does not; it could be a little or a lot, but You don’t know because you don’t know what “dosage” of covid virus you got from the infection.
There’s extremely limited downside to getting a vaccine today; at worst it’s a booster to the previous immunity-initiating event, and the more boosters the better.
I, as well as several of my friends recently got COVID. we are all fully vaccinated and suspect it was the delta variant. most of my friends had relatively short-lived or mild symptoms, but i got hit pretty hard with pretty much every symptom in the book aside from the fact that i could, thankfully, breathe the whole time. my point is not to fear-monger, but just putting it out there that you are not totally protected if you are vaccinated and to be mindful of your own risk tolerance!
thanks, yall! and i had j&j, so i’m not too surprised that i had worse symptoms, since j&j is known to be less effective than moderna and pfizer
