Something that has bothered me and I want to get opinions. Just don't be an a$$ about it. Several months ago, I had a final interview with the practice chair and managing partner of a firm. I could tell that the practice chair didn't like me - she grilled me like a burger on the 4th of July. The MP also grilled me but at the end of said grilling, the MP told me an offer would be forthcoming and had me choose a start date right then and there. I walked out of that firm expecting an offer. Yes. One person's opinion can ruin someone's chances of getting a job.

Yes, if they are part of the interview, they have say... why else would they be there unless their opinion was highly valued.

(Cont) Instead, a half hour later, I get a call stating that I didn't have enough experience and they weren't moving forward with me. Obviously, the MP thought I did and so did the other folks I interviewed with (it was a total of 4 rounds of interviews). I suspect the practice manager had her beef with me for whatever reason. But can one person really torpedo the process like that? It just boggled my mind.

I since have landed at a much better place, but this experience just bothers me and I want to get second opinions.

Yes, in a lot of firms all the folks have to give a green light for a candidate to be hired. This is not unusual.
