Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

Go over the projects you worked on at your current firm and have those ideas/processes/outcomes fresh in your mind to apply to the case study.
Ask them if you can push it back either due to an unexpected work conflict or be honest and say you would like more time to adequately prepare.
Just structure your thoughts, frameworks are not required, but help. Use this site (https://consultinginterviewcoach.com/consulting-case-interview-framework/) Explain your work/steps, the case is more about your thought process as opposed to the outcome you come to.
Don’t stress, that interview process was really easy. Not a very number oriented case, just talk through your thought process. Offer will be somewhere around 120k
Use the case interview practice tool on the Deloitte website. I only used that and then wrote out/brainstormed some relevant background experience just so it was top of mind and it was completely fine! They kind of lead you through it with questions after presenting the scenario
This.
They had 3 cases on there when I was interviewing (Fall 2019) and the actual cases were pretty similar.
That being said, it is important that you to feel comfortable with the process. Just say that you have a conflict and would like to reschedule to early next week in case you need more time to be at your 100%.
I would think the case study is more to understand how you think and process information, work through problems and find solutions. Without specific details on the case itself, it’ll be challenging to prepare specifics. Try to focus on showcasing how you think and work to create client value.
I’d never done one either.
Just voice out your entire process, don’t jump to conclusions, ask plenty of questions for clarification, don’t rule things out unless completely obtuse, show your logic and correlation between everything, etc.
you don’t need a right answer, just how you solve problems and walk through all avenues.
The case study is a conversation - there’s no “right” or “wrong” answer it’s more so to understand your thinking and analytical process of developing an answer. If you go off track, they’ll put you back on track so you can answer the question. Best way to prep is to do the case studies Deloitte provides online - and look up on Google some basic problem solving theories and apply those. You will do great! I freaked out too, I think we all do.
Deloitte case studies are not super hard - not like case interviews at MBB or other strategy firms (in my experience). If you answer in a structured way and show your content knowledge, you’re probably good to go!
