I submitted 5 apps so far and will appreciate any guidance or referrals if possible. Positions are related to fraud, investigations, anti-money laundering. Crossroads Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. I have been with the organization almost 6 years and have accomplished achievement of my MSL (Masters Strategic Leadership) and LOVE the organization…BUT…I am not having any success in moving into a new position…my interviews are great experiences but it seems to be a pattern of not being selected yet encouraged to continue applying…received information from a mentor/manager to ask for candid feedback…when is enough…ENOUGH??

I work at the brand side now.
Whether you worked at BBDO or W+K, it goes in one sentence in your introduction- “great ad agency background, ” could probably add “some of the world’s best agencies, ” but that’s it.
I second what CD1 said, the brands you worked on are more relevant. Experience working with high-value/global brands, or brands that have huge marketing budgets, is appreciated.
It doesn’t.
The brand you work with has more relevancy. E.g. Spotify is better than StateFarm, instead of WK vs McCann
Might help with some in-house agencies or maybe a role at a tech company. Entertainment companies don’t give a shit about agency experience.
Pedigree used to matter more. Not so much now.
There are plenty of untalented hacks occupying's chairs in various places like WK and Droga and on and on. The work matters more than anything.
Yes let’s of brand-side folks come from the agency world so they’ll either have worked with or for a big name agency or looked up to that agency at some point.
It’s both— depends on the shop and the role you’re scoping out

It helps everywhere you could be hired

If an organization hires ad agency strategists, working at the best ad agencies looks good to them.
I think it’s helps within the industry, but no one cares outside of it. Droga helps you get a job at W+K which helps you get a job at Martin. Does Nestle care about any of those names when they’re hiring you? I doubt it
You are forgetting that when working at WK or Droga, probably, you have worked in a big/well-known brand like Nike, P&G, Kraft, IHop, etc. Besides working with great professionals for referrals, so I think it helps a lot
Nobody knows outside of advertising. It’s done jack sh¡t for me.
