There is no magical way to have your cake and eat it too. Accept the offer and leave. Ask for a counter and have that on your file forever at your current place with all the things that may result from it already discussed. That's why we had a consensus
I agree with ED. In addition there are ways to negotiate for a higher compensation, like more vacation days, telecommuting or an earlier review to bump compensation, that will get you closer to this number. If an agency is that far off with their initial offer, they either do not see that you are a rockstar or tend to lowball candidates both of which are hard to overcome when you're at the point of negotiating compensation.
Previous consensus was to "never accept the counter" but.... outside of the oppressive workload and limited comp, it's one of the best groups of people I've worked with. And I've been living the #agencylife for some time now
