The NHS is ramping up flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to tackle a surge in winter illnesses. Are you planning to get vaccinated this season to protect yourself and others?

I am not entirely convinced on the covid19 boosters anymore.

It is a little concerning seeing healthcare professionals not getting their annual vaccines. So I hope everyone does the smart thing and gets their flu and Covid vaccines. Last years flu and Covid season was a nightmare so anything that lessens the burden on us this year would be good. We are also dealing with an outbreak of pneumonia so I can already tell this is going to be a rough year for respiratory illnesses

like

Unfortunately, not everyone sees the importance of getting their vaccines. It’s frustrating, especially knowing how rough last year's flu and COVID season was.

I have RA and still on meds for breast cancer so, yes! I get both vaccines yearly. I get the Covid vaccine bc it helps mitigate long covid; which anyone can get from Covid, no matter the strain or severity of covid and no matter the age of the person. I don’t need long covid on top of what I already have.

like

Absolutely not! I took care of extremely sick geriatric patients before the jabs came out, and 99% recovered, including cancer patients, heart failure patients, diabetics, etc. I, myself, and will remain unvaccinated. We have a natural immune system that works wonders when not interfered with via vaccines that do not even stop infection or transmission with side effects of death and disability.

like

I stopped getting the Covid boosters. I just don't have faith in them and I haven't had covid in over two years so I am not as worried about it as I once was.

like

That’s understandable; everyone has to weigh their own comfort and experience. Staying healthy for two years is great, but it’s always good to stay informed as situations and guidance change. Take care!

I am grateful that the vaccines are not required where I work. Doubly grateful that they were not mandated at the height of COVID otherwise I probably would have had to step down. It had nothing to do with the efficacy of the vaccines, but that we were allowed to opt out of the others that were recommended.

like

I think the mandates that took place in specific areas (we weren’t mandated in k-12 education where I live and worked) was mainly bc of the near collapse of our nations biggest as well as smaller community hospitals in almost every community. If you can’t even go into a hospital to get an assessment bc it’s too dangerous, to the point that you had to sit in the car in the parking lot and wait for 4-6 hrs for your turn; or, out and out denied treatment for, let’s say heart attack/stroke/cancer/etc you know it’s very dire. I believe that Faccui knew how deadly the covid virus was and also knew ppl were dying for reasons outside of covid bc of this collapse (denied treatment for preventable conditions). I think Faccui also knew our health systems weren’t going to make at the rate they were going in terms of deaths (morgues on the streets). Cities literally couldn’t keep up. Staff was short/no supplies/morgues outside on the streets/field hospitals by army corp developed/etc. but once the vaccine was available to all, the tide slowly turned.

I got vaccinated when I got my flu shot.

The fact that we had no choice during the worst of Covid and are given backhanded choice now is very concerning. Where I work, if you don’t get the Covid booster and the flu shot you lose the significant discount on your health insurance premium. I am autoimmune and of the type that never gets sick; not even the common cold. I did get a single mild case of Covid early on. Getting a vaccine DOES make me sick because my immune system, already in constant overdrive, goes into full on attack mode. My functional medicine doctor has written a note saying I am not allowed to have any vaccines because it aggravates my existing co-morbidities. We shall see if they accept it without penalizing me. I am not alone, there are many people like me who should not have these vaccines.

I too have a couple autoimmune diseases (RA and lupus) and take meds for breast cancer. The Covid vaccine does create an autoimmune flare but, it will keep me alive if I get Covid and will mitigate long covid. My team highly recommended that I get the vaccine. Interesting.

Hi all, I’ve been taking 15mg XR in the morning and 15mg IR as needed in the afternoon for about 2 years now and it’s helped a lot, however, when I take time off I just feel so lethargic. I’ve read about people taking Wellbutrin as well. Anyone have experiences with this? I meditate and exercise as well, but I just lack energy and almost feel like the same things don’t make me happy when I’m not on my medication.

I think living a frugal life and aiming to retire early makes a lot of sense.

Recently, some of my family members are diagnosed with a rare diseases. When you look at the statistics, these are so many of these ‘rare’ conditions and cumulatively they are not rare.

These family members conditions made me reevaluate how I want to spend my life. I am 35 this year and I can’t decide if I should take great vacations with my kids or keep living a frugal life. Do you have the same dilemma?

I am scheduled to fly from NYC to Mumbai via Paris next Wednesday (Jan 5) for a ~10 day trip. Have any of you, your family, friends, etc. flown a similar route (I.e. from US to India via Europe) in the past week? If so, what is the arrival process (Covid test, quarantine requirements, etc.)? I’ve had all recommended vaccine shots and I’m only in Paris for a 2 hour layover (not leaving the airport). Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!
