Any fish familiar with Apple's OPD group? Thoughts on potential exit and expected base comp? MBA with 5 YOE, seems like it might be a step down from MBB Associate comp but tempted by tech exit and work life balance...
Does anyone have experience with asking for a lower hour requirement and a proportional salary decrease? (E.g. staff attorney, counsel, etc.) I don’t have kids (yet) but I’m fortunate in that my husband and I both have great salaries and we talk a lot about “How much money is enough” for us and would just rather have more time off/more flexibility. Life is short. 💕
Coming in as a C at Deloitte in human capital, 4 years of experience, 3 being fed consulting. What salary should I aim for? Have a masters as well.
Interviewing for a great position in industry (tech). They have equity comp & great benefits. Spoke to their HR, then interviewed with 2 people in the tax department and am getting scheduled for a next round of interviews. The only problem is: the office is about 1 hr from my house (I own). They said repeatedly that they want someone who will be in the office 5 days a week. I would actually move but can’t rent out my place now due to some repairs going on that will take 4-5 months. Thoughts?
We usually Venmo our nanny each week. But for holiday bonus, do you all usually give literal cash? Check? Venmo feels like it’s not a physical gift
Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector. Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting. https://www.propublica.org/article/how-mckinsey-is-making-100-million-and-counting-advising-on-the-governments-bumbling-coronavirus-response
Any thoughts on Morning Brew as a workplace? Love their newsletter and podcasts. I am super keen about the space but I'm not sure if it's worth the pay cut from Manager level in MBB
I love this group. For those that receive company equity as part of their comp, what’s your strategy? Do you immediately sell it all and put the cash into index funds?
Has anyone ever completed the firms consulting training boot camp with them? What did you think of it? Esp for people at MBB now do you think it prepared you for the life and problem spaces here?
Sick for the first time in 2 years because I spent time with extended family and their kids. What is it about kids constantly being sick?? I spend 2 days around toddlers and my immune system takes a vacation.
Hot take: If you want to experience the benefits of socialism in America, join the over-funded military and accelerate your life.
Omg lady won't give up her seat so this non white family can sit together who has a baby. "If these people who can't speak English can't afford to sit next to each other, why do I have to move" ewww
Have any of you had to deal with a friend cheating the system to get the covid vaccine? I’m in a state where they work on an honor system and don’t ask to see your medical records etc. but you sign a statement saying you’re eligible. I want to confront this friend and tell them what they did doesn’t sit right with my values and wondering if anyone has been through a similar experience with a friend or relative?
Anyone have wireless in-ear headphones/ear buds recommendations? I want to be able to talk on the phone/travel with them but also run so I don’t want them to be noise cancelling or fall out easily.
Currently a sr. analyst at ACN in strategy looking to make a jump. Anyone willing to make a referral to MBB/OW/ATK/LEK?
Do you ever get a sense that desi women tolerate abuse more than women here? As in, perhaps several of the things we identify as abusive in the US aren’t even considered abuse in the context of this culture yet?

Best books about product management for a good exit to industry? I already have an MBA and PMP but looking for a refreshed perspective since it’s been years since my formal education. Currently reading “Product Managements Sacred Seven” but it’s geared toward the startup world. I am in healthcare and not looking for a startup role. TIA!!!
We need to improve our ability to take care of people in their homes. COVID is a perfect use case, as better to have these folks avoid the hospital
My wife and I would like to retire at age 50 (or earlier). We’re in our early 30s. We’ve been maxing out 401ks and IRAs for years and started contributing 20k a year into a taxable account to start filling the gap since we can’t access 401k until 55. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.
I have multiple client projects. One client talks a lot and keeps going over slotted meeting times. I am frustrated because I can’t find a good way to cut the client off and move to my next meeting. I even tried extending time with him. This client thinks his problems are the most important and doesn’t understand the concept that I’m across multiple engagements. I’m sick of being late all of the time and having to apologize to my other teams. What do you guys do when this happens?
Share instances where you wanted to say “THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID” when something was said on a conference call. Bonus points if you actually did.
B4 🐠 - How does the comp for an Oracle ERP/EPM associate/manager at B4? Will be a manager at year end at a smaller firm and looking to switch over
How do you all calm yourself down and mentally prepare for the week? Bad case of Sunday scaries knowing my colleague is going on vacation this week and I’m gonna have to balance a lot of work
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Hey all - early 30’s and feeling really lost in terms of trying to figure out what I want to do in life. I’ve been in consulting for 5 years and just hate it. I’m torn between doing something for the greater good and making good money. Is there any way to do both? Also if anyone has recs for helpful books or podcasts on figuring out life, I would appreciate any and all suggestions!
US - does any MBB have plans for an office in Indianapolis? Seems like a good base of clients and I’m considering mid-sized cities longer term, but want to stay on consulting path.
