Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

I definitely did, I think the scale makes a big difference. But at the same time I know that not all regional firms are as well-organized and functional as mine is, so I think it really depends on the regional firm you would be moving to
Which regional firm do you work for?
I came from MM to a firm prob as a big as Crowe. It’s more entrepreneurial which I like. I can join initiatives that I think will help better my practice.
I work in a specialized advisory practice though so idk how it would be if you were tax/audit.
Get out of the Top 30 firms- the amount of hours they require are toxic and most of them are being bought by private equity.
Right Manager 4?! I feel like anyone who slaves away in the Top 30 only to get screwed by PE is not thinking clearly.
Depends on who you want your clientele to be. I’m Pig 4 for life
I work on average about 40-45 hours a week in big 4. Every MM firm that I talked with have much higher hours per week so I think it honestly depends on your circumstance and the prospective firm.
Don’t let blanket statements decide your future. Do your own research, interview places and make your own decision.
