Trying to break into the Big 4 but it’s been a bit of a struggle due to my audit background (private company) and the overall market.

Any tips on how to secure a position? Willing to step down a level and move to any industry (including public companies).

Honestly it’s weird because if you wanted to be hired a level down they seem to only hire you directly out of college. It’s like they would prefer you have zero experience to mold you to their system. I would suggest going to a smaller firm like top 50 and then try to break into big four. Those are usually the only experienced hires they take unless you’re coming from one of their clients.

If you are CPA I would think you should be able to find an auditing role. Even without a referral I still think you should be able to secure a new position. Hopefully, someone else will respond.

like

That’s what I thought too! It’s harder than I thought

like

In the same position just wondering I saw in other firms it seems that it shouldn’t be hard if you have a CPA

I have my CPA

Hi peeps!
Got two offers on the table, who love to hear your advice!

- Finance Business Partner for a late stage (Series D/valuation 3B) startup tech company

- Corp Dev analyst role for a listed niche gambling company

The tech job pays 15k more, but from what I can see will be a cluster and super long hours (has EU stakeholders). Maybe a pipe dream, but I want to have a "somewhat" decent wlb while still growing my career toward strategy and finance.

Thoughts on which one is better?

Hi All,

I’m new to this bowl. My experience is in accounting but I’m looking to transition to defense sector consulting. My undergrad degree is in criminal justice and then went the business route for grad. I’m looking to get back to my roots. Does anyone here have experience in weighing Georgetown’s SSP program (or similar) versus an MBA?

TIA!

I got better package than techM in other companies.

Hello! Looking for some guidance. I will soon be leaving Verizon after 15 years with them (6 years HR experience, 3 years Operations, 6 years leadership). The last HR position I held will be eliminated and I was offered a severance. I am now in the market for a new place of employment I can call home. I was thinking of trying for a start up. But the likes of Google, Adobe, etc. also seem appealing. Would you recommend a start up as my next endeavor? I enjoy helping build processes and policies.

What is work-life balance like in big tech legal? I’m currently in house at a large multinational; I like my job and I get paid fine, with a very good WLB (40-45 hrs). I want to look into FAANG-type opportunities as they would mean a huge pay bump, and I think I’m qualified, but I have no idea about the hours, and I don’t want to substantially give up WLB, as that’s why I left BigLaw. I don’t want to be miserable again. I know Amazon is poorly reputed for lawyer WLB… what about other places?
