Australian e3 visa here, have been laid off before. Save enough for two months rent in the worst case and echoing ACD1, hope your agency doesnt report your end date to USCIS or at least defer reporting it.
Maintain your agency ties and network aggressively because itll help immensely with the job hunt in the worst case. Youd be surprised how much you can achieve in the 60 day grace period
You also have 60 days I believe to find another job. Tough but possible
I did it.. twice. đ incredibly stressful doesn't begin to describe it.
Negotiated to interview for transfer to similar open positions within the network. HR will actively support. Similar to European terms in France, Germany or UK.
Save enough money to cover rent and a flight out to Canada then return on a tourist visa while you look for jobs.
Also if the agency has some sense of care, they will extend your finish date so you can stay a bit longer on the visa while just not working for them. Like unpaid time off after your final office day.
Same as @SPD1 âď¸ on transfer options. I also agreed with them that if I did have to leave, they had to cover any fees for getting out of rental contracts, and anything else, plus all the moving/relocation costs.
Thanks to everyone for their responses and suggestions! Super helpful. While I havenât been laid off yet, I always feel like itâs an inevitability in this industry and so donât take my employment for granted.
Heard that a lot about Anom... avoid or nah?
Getting laid off? Nah Iâm not there. Yet.
In all honesty, Anomaly doesnât have lay offs in the same way most agencies do, but they do make up for that in year-round firings... So your mileage may vary haha.
