Wondering if legal tech is legit or all hype
I joined Tiger Analytics with CTC of 9lpa. When I check in greythr IT statement, it shows 7.14lpa.
In the CTC payslip, it shows 75k per month as my salary. But this month I got 61k.
I understand they deduct tax, but I feel it is too much. IDK where I'm losing the money. Can someone tell if this is normal. I'm a fresher so, IDK much about it.
Also, what can I do to pay less taxes? Any help on that?

Capital in the Twenty-First Century by Piketty
Yes, I carried it on my subway commutes and keep it on my bookshelf as a badge of honor next to The Power Broker, haha. Long but informative and even attempts to not only diagnose but also prescribe
Enlightenment Now - Steven Pinker
+1 enjoyed this read
Go travel somewhere to experience this first hand > any book you will ever read
I’ve seen it, and it’s a saddening experience and feels like a big injustice. However, I’d like to add some data based factual knowledge to this feeling
Read the writings of the recent Nobel Prize Winner of Economics. That’s his key focus area and has done some phenomenal work in that space.
“Why Nations Fail” and “The Bottom Billion” are two good ones to start with.
Vouch for both. Can also recommend “Dead Aid” and anything written by William Easterly

One that builds off some of the above (not directly about inequality but related) is Winners Take All by Amand Girardharas—be careful though, it contributed to my decision to leave consulting!
Light and enjoyable read, definitely thought-provoking
Hillbilly Elegy (about life in the US rust belt) & Freakonomics are lighter reads to dip your toe in.
This was a good read
Factfulness by Hans Rosling. You get about 50% of the book from his TED talks, but it's still a good read and not overly long.
This book is great, highly recommend. Pinker’s or Picketty’s are also good but can be too dense at times.
The Divide - Jason Hickel
The Economics of Inequality by Piketty
I realise it’s a bit of a vague ask, but my factual knowledge on the topic is painfully low. Many people around me talk about how inequality is growing and this is a cause for political divides etc. How the ‘haves’ are growing faster than the ‘have not’s’. At the same time people tell me the world has never been in a better place, poverty is declining etc. I realise that both poverty can be declining and inequality can be growing at the same time, I just want to better understand what actually is going on in terms of income, buying power, standards of living etc.
also People, Power, and Profits - Joseph E. Stiglitz

Both of these are good starts. I also found the Big Sort by Bill Bishop to be great
Shock Doctrine - Naomi Klein
I’m currently reading this book. It was recommended by multiple people on this app. This is more about gender inequality (many times totally unintended) than class / income equality but offers great perspectives.
