You have to be more responsible an train yourself to start an arrive early. In nursing school we couldn't be one minute late or we were sent home. An if you were sent home more than two for tardiness you were cut from the program. Train yourself to be early even just ten to fifteen minutes early you'll find you'll have a more productive an a better day. It's jyst a life lesson is all. You'll get better🥰
What ever happened to personal responsibility? You got a warning for a reason. And, even though you say you learned your lesson, you're whining about it on social media.
You can't expect to be tardy constantly and keep a job. There's a start time for a reason.
I’m aware of that and clearly stated it was hard lesson learned. No need to convey what was already expressed.
You aren't showing up for your patients if you aren't there on time. You are causing your coworkers to need to cover for you. You are essentially saying your time is more important than anyone else's. I am glad to see other company's aren't tolerating this behavior.
I have been applying for visa sponsorship jobs
For long now but what I receive in a return is unfortunately we could not processed in your application
You that have a job just lost it
Sorry about that
It's well
I work 45 min from where I live, shift starts at 6am but we can clock in as early as 05:53. I wake up at 03:20 and out the door by 04:20 so that I have time should anything happen along my route. In the winter when the roads are snow covered I leave even earlier. I also have to park my car in a lot in town and shuttle to the hospital. I usually get to work 15-20min early but it allows me time to finish coffee, put my things away and prepare for the shift. It's not easy and I loathe waking up so early but I enjoy my job and don't want to live in the city.
It's very true. I've been fired from jobs for the same reason. I also realized you can't "make up for it" by going above and beyond at work as an employee. I wasn't being lackadasical, I just have ADHD and had horrible time management and time blindness. But after losing 2 jobs and getting kicked out of nursing school all for the same reason I made it my absolute priority to work on time management and fix being late because I was going to ruin my life otherwise.
I tell myself I have to be at places earlier than I actually do. For example, if I have to be there at 9, I convince myself I have to be there at 8:45 and if I'm usually 5 minutes late I would now get there around 8:50. I also set all the clocks in my apartment and in my car a few minutes ahead. However long your commute is add about 10 minutes. Like if you know it's a 20 minute drive give yourself 30. So for 9:00 am, I have to be there at 8:45, its 20 minutes away, so I have to leave by 8:15 at the very latest. Past me would have been aiming to leave at 8:40 because that's 20 minutes before 9. Just some little things that have helped me. I'm still not perfect but yeah it's rough out there and if you can't be on time they won't consider you dependable or accountable for anything else no matter how much you fill those traits in other areas. In future job interviews if your previous job is allowed to say you were fired, I would be honest but tell them things you've done to change like some of the habits I described or whatever ends up working for you. Give yourself a goal to be out of the house by a certain time even if you don't need to be anywhere- like practicing being ready to be out the door at 8:15 while you're not working. Good luck :)
Typical excuse “I have attention deficit disorder”. 👎
I received one warning and from that moment on, personally for me on time is arriving 10 minutes early. Everytime.
That’s crazy because some places allow employees to be late everyday 15-30 min. I mean I’ve seen it for a whole year and nothing was done.
Sorry, but your repeated actions and failure to fix the problem even after warnings shows you're irresponsible and can't correct it. What is it that makes you feel you don't really need to comply? Management feels like if others see you do it and it's no problem, everyone else will feel entitled to do the same. So when everyone is "only" 7 or 10 minutes late on the same day, who will answer the phones? Listen, if you really want to keep a job, clock in every day a few min early, and be at your workstation at the appointed time, without fail.
I work by this moto IF YOUR EARLY YOUR ON TIME. IF YOUR ON TIME YOUR LATE.
You're working for corporate America, a business. The world doesn't revolve around you. And check your attitude at the door because that can get you fired too. I have worked 40 yrs and have never been talked to, warned, written up or terminated. When your name is one the outside of the building in big letters, then you can enforce the rules you want. Time to wear big girl clothes. I am still trying to figure out how you passed school?
You should have been terminated. Tardiness in medical facilities is out of control. There is no excuse for an adult to be chronically late. Did you post to gain sympathy ?
Maybe you should try to never be late instead of just casually being late all the time.
Rising Star
I’m sorry to hear that happened.
True at least you now in the future. My problem over working myself all the time. I am workolic. If West Suburban Hospital ever opens up again and they allow me to go back . I just do my shift not several shifts.
I just recently left a facility where certain CMAs or CNAs were an hour late to their shift but still was able to keep their job. However when I needed to call out for serious reasons I was badly scolded and threatened with my job. Needless to say I left that facility.
That doesn't sound like a valid reason to terminate you. It looks like they were already looking to get you fired. I'm sorry this happened.
So sorry this happen to you its a shame the way things are now i do hope you find better employment and dont let NOBODY make you think it was your fault mam life happens lesson learn.
It was her fault. Late, reprimanded and still arrived late. People do not take responsibility for their actions.
I am sorry this happened to you. Most companies are staffed well so that those tasks are covered. I hope you can find a better to work for.
Most companies are short staffed. You must not have a job.
If you aren't 15 mins early, you are already late. Our time to punch in is you ready to work. How can you be ready to work if you are waltzing in late. Is what I was raised on. Could you imagine a surgeon... ready and the anesthesiologist had your work ethic. Start the procedure without you. Yikes. That fear inside of being a burden on someone else created my punctual approach. That will close so many doors for you. I think you can pave a new path and grow from this experience. You might fair better finding a mentor or role model that has a heart of a teacher. Good luck in your career.
I have always been 5-10 minutes late on every job I had for over 20 years. I never got terminated, written up or even spoken to on any of those jobs.
When I got to work I got a quick report and checked over charts of my patients to make sure I didn’t miss anything. But I would go into immediate work and always worked fast, hard and thorough so I got promotions frequently and was even voted nurse of the year for five years straight on more than one job.
I think what’s more important
This is a ridiculous comment. Why were you making a fellow employee wait on you ? You sound proud that you were selfish and undependable. Typical mentality of nurses now. You would have been terminated if these nursing facilities were not chronically short staffed.
Sounds like there were other less tangible issues, but they could clearly prove you were late and terminated you for that.
