What are the key things you would say to someone who is brand new to M&A but excited about the career change?

Wonder if anyone can offer advice on which cert to pursue next? I obtained my CompTIA Security+ last year and wondering if I should go for the CySA+ or Pentest+ next. I also have my AWS CCP and will be sitting for the Solutions Architect soon as well. Currently not doing security stuff at work but would love to keep my skills going. I was hoping one of these next certs will help me finally break into a security role and love the idea of pentesting but not sure if the CySA+ is more beneficial.

Graduating with PhD in comp neuro next year. I just did a week long internship at MBB to check out consulting, which I loved but ultimately will not be accepting my offer for life considerations (my wife also works at MBB and we have young children). It was amazing getting a sense of what the work actually comprises.

Are there any similar day-long or week-long internship programs for data science? Would love to test it out for a little bit to see what I like/dislike.

What may I learn to climb career ladder ?

Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?

2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Hi there - my company is returning to office next month. Hybrid to begin before they ramp up to 5 days back in office by end of year.

I think the fact they want to bring us back 5 days is disrespectful considering how much work we’ve put in remotely over the last year. Not to mention productivity studies say people who WFH (and have no kids) are substantially more productive.

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I probably sound petty, but a part of me is forcing me to re-evaluate every interaction I ever had with her.
