I got an offer from Paytm of 32 LPA and 450 units of ESOPs I also have an offer from JPMorgan Chase of 24 Lakhs of fixed pay and 15% ( 3 Lakhs approx. ) of bonus. Another offer from Zee entertainment enterprise ltd / Zeel of 30 LPA. Please help me choose either of these. I'm a little sceptical about Paytm as it is still burning cash. They create the plans companies need as scapegoats to reduce overhead costs, increase profits, and improve stock performance.
This feels like a real answer.
Help senior execs make decisions. Clients need us because they lack one of many possible things: capacity, time, expertise, organizational buyin, etc.
Pay isn’t determined by inputs (how hard you work). It’s determined by economic impact (demand) and scarcity (supply). Talent scarcity is a longer discussion but we make a huge impact because we work at massive scale (clients are typically senior people at big corporations) and are always solving clients’ most important problems quickly (each consultant here works on 5-10 projects per year and the project ends when the clients can handle the rest themselves).
For some clients, sure. Some clients aren’t even in competitive marketplaces (governments, regulated utilities, etc.).
Other clients are leaders in their industries who operate efficiently and have great talent, in which case they might hire consultants to develop growth strategies, advise on M&As, provide industry expertise, etc.
Let’s take this offline

We try not to boil the ocean and always take a step back, and ask smart questions like “can it scale?”

I remember in my orientation several years ago, we had an MD describe what consultants are to fresh graduates and he said. If anyone asks what you do, tell them you’re a doctor for companies

Normal regular consultants (excluding MBB people and managers/partners) don't make alot of money. Prostitutes probably make more

Is there a movie reference for this? Like in Office Space, are consultants the 2 people who come in have interviews and let some people go?
Enthusiast
Yes, the guys in Office Space are consultants.
I wouldn't call the Up in the Air firm a consulting firm. They're a one-trick pony, literally hired to have the layoff discussion when the company has made a decision.
