Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Anyone, who might have some tips, or went through a similar experience? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

BCG are smart but dorky, McK is larger and kinda evil, Bain is for bros.
Deloitte is ok I guess, KPMG are trying their best, Accenture apparently has a strategy group that has some chops, and EY are borderline mentally retarded.
Love the culture at McKinsey - full of people who hold themselves and others to high expectations (personally and professionally). The group is very diverse interests/backgrounds-wise (...less so socioeconomic as we have few non-target school hires) but extremely like-minded in terms of possessing an impact-orientation to be a leader at whatever they do (here or beyond). McK collects people who push themselves and creates an amazing environment for them to grow into even stronger leaders (we are flooded with training/resources, have little red tape for those who take initiative, and receive excellent access to an extremely talented set of peers and leaders (client-side + internal)). We are intense about values / professional development / client-impact. The main concern here is developing skills, demonstrating them to a high-level, and putting them to use for clients in industries / functions of interest in a fast paced environment. Of course, the flip-side of such Type A culture is a sense of "competitive," but at McK, respecting each other is basic table stakes. People here are motivated by the pace and culture to continuously improve by learning from the best of each other. I would say that type of culture is extremely rare even in high-performing small companies, so to couple that culture with the size and scale of McK makes it a very cool place. On top of that, many many people make some of their best friends here :)
We don't talk about competitors. Other than "Bain is for sale!" 😂
How vague and broad can you phrase a question...
Just writing about hogwarts houses proves that BCG is dorky. Bain's probably off talking about corporate jets at a roof party.
Sorry coming late to this, but just coming out of a great client rooftop party. Great discussions about jets...
What did we miss?..
BCG: Gryffindor, McK: Slytherin, Bain: Ravenclaw, Deloitte/EY/PwC/KPMG etc: Durmstrang and gang
I did an internship with BCG and couldn't connect with 90% of the people if my office. I guess it's tough for them to have real human interaction when their heads are that far up their own asses
BCG is great. Never worked for the other 6 and not planning to. Hope that helps. 🤓
^ I'd say BCG's more like Hufflepuff
I like IBM
^ I have no idea what office or experience you had but I can promise it doesn't match the vast majority. I definitely wouldn't consider us as super arrogant people, particularly among each other. Where are you now?
Language like that just completely discredits the actual message you are trying to convey, SA
This is a difficult question for anyone to answer non-superficially, especially since within a firm it differs quite a bit by office too (at least in my experience)
BCG1, honestly just curious and got bored. So will take any responses.
BCG is best. All others are 💩
😂😂😂
@BCG I probably should be more fair (as I usually am on here when I comment on that experience on FB) and say that I totally recognize that. I still have friends and bcg and still encouraged people to take a look for themselves if they are interested. HOWEVER the MBB worship on this app is so over the top I feel the need to post such comments sometimes to highlight that it is not for everyone. Myself included. Glad you're enjoying BCG better than I did
Would echo and confirm what @D1 said. I've found Deloitte colleagues to be smart, driven, and always willing to help another colleague. Sure, every firm has some bad apples but I've met significantly more good ones than bad ones. Having spent a little time in industry I know that it's easy for us to criticize our firms on this app but relatively speaking all firms represented on here have lots of positive. Deloitte, like everyone else has more than its fair share of negatives but i do believe leadership does try to fix these things when they can. Results do vary but there is effort made.
EY is awesome. Great people, great projects (if you network and find the correct one). It all depends which office n which practice you work for. People sit around, don't reach out n network, and don't add value to the practice n expect to be staffed on best projects - this attitude does not n will not work in any consulting firm!! If you make your practice and partners successful - they will indeed make you successful. This simple principle works everywhere!
I was at ACN and Big 4 and just joined ATK to do strategy . ATK feels more polished, people dress nicer, every office has a canon of literature of you to read, we have a think tank attached to the firm, free food and drinks (beer), everyone has gone to an excellent b school, very worldly (tons of accents), and they pay great
