Mine is a teacher. There’s a gap, I can only imagine it will widen as our careers progress. But I’m not with her for her cash; shes kind, empathetic and makes a mean Spotify playlist.
A decently famous CCO is with a teacher. Makes sense!
My wife is a national security lawyer. I'm basically a trophy husband.
My husband is an entertainment lawyer. I always thought I made a $hit ton of money but you can't believe how much these guys pull in. Life is good.
Oof if you go on the Personal Investment Chatter bowl you can see threads of how much people in law / consulting / finance make. A bit depressing at times but since you asked. Let’s say some complain about being 500k in student debt.
They’re working on their PhD in Spacial Ecology. Being a Teaching Assistant helps them pay the bills.
I currently earn 50K more than them but they’ll outearn me once they graduate and get established in their field.
My husband is a doctor- makes about 6x more than me.
My husband is a professional musician. Many years of 100% disparity. Every year is different, but I'll probably always make significantly more unless he goes on tour with like Billie Eilish or something 🤷♀️
Having a musician in the home is its own kind of luxury
My bf of 5 yrs makes ~60k as a bartender and I make about 100k. It can be kind of a bummer only in knowing that if I want to go do something expensive together as a couple, it will always have to be my treat (like plane tickets). Income difference doesn't bother me, but I wish he were a little better with money sometimes.
Feel this one.
About the same.. but my partner is in government (Canada). Unionized, pension plan, good benefits. So the stability and peace of mind they bring is worth much more. I could get laid off tomorrow and not really stress about it. Or during freelance times, have a dry spell. We worked out our financials so that we can get by on a single income. Which bring to that side conversation on this thread about sharing your income with your partner. It's important for us to do so so we can plan together as one family unit.
My bf is a movie/tv actor. I make more than him. Streaming destroyed residuals for any one who isn’t George clooney or Brad Pitt. He used to make triple than me, now I make double what he makes.
I can’t wait for my wife to surpass me. And she will. I’m all in on ‘Stay at home’ dadness.
He’s a CCO and I’m a head of department. I make 2/3 what he does but am hell bent on catching up!
My husband is in Private Equity. Really helped me take the plunge to shift careers late in life and move into advertising 🤷🏽♀️
My spouse is in-house creative. I make 2x more, but we are equals no matter the $$$. We agreed many years ago to push each other to do better every year. We’re proud of each other and are supportive when one is not happy in a crappy situ and looking for solutions.
My bf is a technical account manager and makes three times what I do (twice as much after his student loans). It’s a large gap, but we work in different fields and have mutual understanding and respect.
He is a soccer coach and makes about 2/3 what I make.
He works in insurance and I (female) make about 4x more. When we started dating, we made about the same. I do feel like he could strive for something more, but he’s happy with his job.
Mine SO retired so I make at least 3x what he does. When he worked he made about 3x what I do. So now we’re even.
My partner makes about the same amount. But they work 9-5 and I… don’t lol
I make 3x what my chef partner makes. They have more professional schooling, and work longer hours. I feel major guilt about it.
My husband does HVAC and makes about 20% more than me
My bf (designer for an architecture firm) supposedly makes as much as me but I have a feeling he lied. Kind of hoping he lied bc if not he is severely underpaid.
Designer 3 we make the same exact figure which I thought was a bit odd, maybe bc he he has been with his company for almost 20 years it seemed weird but it sounds like it’s about right. Thanks for the info!
I make 2x what my partner does. He’s in events, the field is not as lucrative as advertising but he likes it and that’s what counts!
