Mine is a teacher. There’s a gap, I can only imagine it will widen as our careers progress. But I’m not with her for her cash; shes kind, empathetic and makes a mean Spotify playlist.
A decently famous CCO is with a teacher. Makes sense!
My wife is a national security lawyer. I'm basically a trophy husband.
My partner and I met in ad school so we’re both in the industry.
He’s an in-house community manager for a big ol’ brand and makes 25k more than I do. He probably always will until I finally give in and go client-side.
Even as the partner who makes more money, he’s suggested that we split our finances based on our income (so about 40/60) when we move in together.
Boyfriend is in Investment Banking, making 3x as much as me, at least.
My boyfriend is a lawyer and makes just a little more than I do. Although he comes from a more financially stable background so the disparity is there in that he has more assets readily available, e. g. a car, his own house, etc.
My wife makes zero money and I make all the money. She’s a full time mom of 2 kids. It’s pretty much invaluable when she takes care of everything else. She uses the college degree in volunteer work when there is time for that.
My BF works in Analytics and I work very lucratively in creative freelance and I’m pulling in like 4x what he does. I pay for 70% of our rent, food and bills. We contribute equally to our household though and him probably even more with the cleaning and stuff when I’m working on a particularly crazy project. His job is very 9-5 sometimes less. Me taking on a lion share of the bills and financial planning doesn’t bother me though because I like the lifestyle I can afford and Its only made better having a life partner to enjoy it with me. Plus he’s paying off student loans and I’m not. I’m making enough to save for both our futures and we’re planning on having a family in the next few years and he wants to be a stay at home dad. My life goals have always been super career oriented, his have been very family oriented. At the end of the day I think we both will win.
My husband is a doctor (but in residency) so he makes 1/4 of what I make. In 5 years he’ll make 5x what I make. I look forward to retiring from advertising at age 40 (when I’d be pushed out for ageism anyway)
29/ Female making $175K. SO is five years older and making $85K. He took a career shift, so had to start back at entry a couple years ago. So I don’t resent him, we split everything equally but sometimes I splurge on us for travel and outings.
He’s a programmer and I make less than 2k more than him
Guess that’s why I’m in data analysis and not copywriting 😬
Client side. Strat. I make 40% more - been doing this longer. So yeah I deserve it.
he’s an engineer, before tax his income is almost double mine, he also has a side business which he’s looking to move into full time maybe in a couple of years. but he had been unemployed since the start of the year due to health issues so we’re playing catch up as i was pretty much paying for everything while he was sick
Props to you
He works in publishing and I make about twice as much as him. Sometimes it’s frustrating but I’ve gotten zen about it by now.
Boyfriend I live with just graduated- struggling to break into his field. So he does small freelance and works part time at a cafe. Pretty big difference but I have student loans so he doesn’t, so those definitely level the playing field
He's in compliance and I make about £1.5K more than him monthly after tax (UK based). We live together so we split rent & bills according to our salary so it's fair and I pay for groceries.
LOL my partner is a meteorologist (not on TV).
My partner works in finance. He makes 4 times more than I do
My SO works in finance but I make more than they. Wish they made 3x as much as me. I would have retired by now.
My husband is an artist. One who generally doesn’t market his own stuff. So it would be fair to say I make about 98% more than he does. Yes, I’m resentful but I’ve also come to terms with it.
My husband is a civil engineer and I make ~$18k more than him
My spouse is a reporter. I make more, but we're both okay with that. We both love our jobs and kick ass at them.
My boyfriend works in tech sales. We are 23F and 25M. I just got a new job offer making 75k 😳 and he just started a new job that’s heavily commission based so his base salary is 45k, but once the bonus checks start coming he will probably make around the same as me.
Thank you M1! My job that I will be leaving soon is for 55k in pharma and my new gig is non-pharma. I never dreamed I would be able to have this big of a jump especially since I’m getting out of pharma. It’s definitely a blessing.
